Finally putting my Close to My Heart papers away for the weekend. So many adorable layouts completed and a huge chunk off my New Years list. The final layout for today is this eye catching double spread featuring our Kaleidoscope paper. The patterned green background paper pairs nicely with the colorful jelly bean print. I've decide to keep things clean and crisp on the layout by not distressing the edges or stamping. This is a die-cut dream with flowers a plenty.

Time to call it a day. So many projects got checked off the list that I can go to sleep feeling as if I've accomplished something. Before signing off I wanted to show whats got me super excited. I've been sitting on paper since I first signed up with Close to My Heart almost three years ago, not knowing what direction to take it. Today I got some inspiration from Pinterest and Susan Williams. The Believe paper pack came out way before I signed on and was one of the first bulk purchases I made from a consultant who was retiring. Lets just say the paper is very bold so I had to find a way to tone down the patterns. Plenty of large white mats and white scallop border does the trick. Add in some enamel triangles and a really great die-cut and the page is done. I've got tons of these ready for a new home.
Wow!! Can't believe how quickly New Years Day went. Hope everybody enjoyed the evening and got home safely. Me and boy stayed in watching the ball drop and drinking champagne, It was the champagne that made getting up this morning miserable. We polished off a bottle and the headache that followed was awful. After sleeping in til after ten, I went into overdrive by designing the Mom & Me mini book and precutting everything for 20 lovely young ladies. Then it was time to fix a disaster.
It's been almost a year since I taught a class using the beautiful Heartstrings paper. The class was loads of fun but it was also at the start of my mix media craz. Not really knowing what I was doing, a decided to have the class spray ink all over their paper using heart cut outs as a mask. It was cute but very busy and not cohesive. After taking it apart I made the realization that the background needed to change. So I created a heart background pattern using the cameo, the hearts had to be small to add more visual interest. By mixing gesso and glacier reinker, I was able to hand paint all the backgrounds. Yes, I did just say "hand-paint". Not sure what came over me to make kits with hand painting in them but its done now. There are 7 of these beauties just waiting for a good home. Let me know if you are interested. As always, my kits are pre-cut and come with full color instructions. |
